What is a ‘Whip’?
As described by Red Bull athlete and Red Bull Best Whip judge Hannah Bergemann:“Moving the bike sideways in the air, ideally to at least 90 degrees, and then bringing it back to straight on the landing. Bonus points for amplitude and style!”

Competition FormatRiders will have a 45 minute jam-style session, on Bellingham Waterfront's newest trick jump, to complete as many runs as possible until the clock runs out. Toward the end of the session, judges will start rewarding riders with a new sticker that will advance them to the Finals round. Finals will run a jam-style format for another 15 minutes before final judging and winners are announced.
JudgingThe judging panel criteria will be determined by amplitude, individual style, and the degree of the whip beyond the 90 degree (perpendicular to trajectory of the jump) and execution…including bringing the whip back!
Entry fee (Tune-Up festival pass not included and not required to compete):$15
*Minimum rider age: 16 (as of December 31, 2026)**Riders under 18 must have a parent/guardian present
*Athletes must be 16 or older to participate in the Red Bull Best Whip. Athletes under 18 must have a a parent/guardian present.
Age should be between 16 and 100 as of December 31st, 2026
